Spool + Sparrow is a one-woman textile design and production studio in Seattle, WA.  In my home-based workshop, I create natural fiber housewares, garments and accessories influenced by a rustic and utilitarian-inspired esthetic.  I love to work with pintucks, raw edges and visible stitching.  Many of my designs are imprinted with my hand-carved block prints.  I make a limited number of each item and delight in the subtle variation from one piece to the next.  In my mind, this is the grand appeal of handmade textile goods.

As part of my effort to offer products that cause no environmental harm, I design with careful consideration for product lifecycle.  I am working toward 100% biodegradability at the end of each item's usable life. I use only fabrics made from renewable, sustainable-crop fibers and print with water-based, non-toxic ink.  Now and then, I use vintage and up-cycled materials as well.

Currently featured products are made from linen, hemp, organic cotton and vintage Japanese fabrics.  The natural “imperfections” of each fabric, such as an occasional flax fiber peeking out of a swathe of linen, serve as a reminder of the raw material from which it was made.  I take great care to offer only high-quality designs that blend beauty and comfort with environmental sensitivity.  As all of my creations are handmade, one-at-a-time, no two items are exactly alike.

Thank you for visiting Spool + Sparrow and supporting handmade!
